OPA is HIPAA Compliant

If you leave comments on the Web site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

We do not post user information from users on our Web site because of HIPAA. You may contact us by phone or FAX if you have medical or insurance questions.

You may also use email; however, we do not consider email secure for personal health information.

Cookies

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

We only share your data with your dentist or oral practitioner in the course of treatment. We may also use de-identified medical information in our work teaching oral pathology residents or conducting research.

How long we retain your data

We retain your data persuant to legal requirements. Most are retained for seven (7) years.

What rights you have over your data

If we have received personal information about you, it will be through your dentist or specialist. We do not share your personal health information (PHI) with anyone outside of OPA. We may keep de-identified clinical information for research purposes. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
